Accessibility Notice and Remediation Plan Recommendation

The SUNY New Paltz campus and the Office of Instructional Technology are committed to helping you create accessible content for Brightspace courses.  Continuing to use non-compliant content creates unintentional barriers for some students and violates federal guidelines for accessibility.

The following guidance ensures your awareness of federal and SUNY policies regarding accessibility.  You are also encouraged to create a remediation plan in order to revise your content in a timely manner.  After you have read the following information, please follow the instructions in the acknowledgement statement section at the end of the document to continue the course copy process.

Step 1: Check your Awareness

Step 2: Familiarize yourself with accessibility resources

Step 3: Implement a remediation plan

  • Identify the course items that need remediation
  • Communicate your remediation plan to instructional design team (recommended)
  • Come to group trainings or workshops or make an appointment for one-on-one guidance

Step 4: Acknowledgement Statement

(Please copy the following statement; reply to our email message regarding your course copy request ticket; and then paste this message in your reply.  This will serve to acknowledge your receipt of this document; when we receive the copied message in your reply, we will copy your course as requested.)

I have reviewed the Accessibility Notice and Remediation Plan Recommendation document and I acknowledge that I am aware of accessibility guidelines and responsibilities.  I am aware that I can create a remediation plan with the Office of Instructional Technology if I need assistance or guidance OR I commit to bringing my course(s) into compliance using the available training resources.
