Best Practices For Virtual Presenters

Here are some helpful tips for a successful virtual presentation.

  • Join the meeting 10 minutes early so you are prepared and can troubleshoot any issues that may arise.

  • Ensure that you have a high-quality Internet connection through your WiFi network or use a hard wired connection.

  • Make sure your computer and all apps are up to date, so that your web conferencing software will be able to run correctly.

  • Adjust your webcam to ensure other participants can see you.

  • Speak clearly so that other participants can hear you.

  • You may want to use a headset to reduce background noise.

  • The less video streams running at your home e.g. Netflix, Hulu etc., the more bandwidth will be available for the video conference and the better your connection will be.

  • If you are playing video or audio, be aware of the program's settings to do so. Many programs do not send audio by default, and this option needs to be enabled.
