How do I log in to Blackboard

Blackboard is web based.

The preferred browser for all operating systems (Windows and Mac) is Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.

As long as you have access to the web and are using Mozilla Firefox, or Chrome, you should be able to use Blackboard from any location.

To access BlackBoard:

  1. Point your browser to: http://blackboard.newpaltz.edu.
  2. At the Blackboard Portal page, you must enter your username (NPCUID)and password.
  3. Click “Login” to proceed.

* Some individual's NPCUID may be the same as their Student/Banner ID but this should not be assumed.

If you have forgotten your Blackboard username or password you can use our self-service password reset tool by going to my.newpaltz.edu and clicking on the “Forgot Username/Password” link.

The self-service tool will only work if:

  • we have an valid, external email address (i.e. a non-“newpaltz.edu” email address) on file for you
  • AND you have already set up a “security question” so we can verify your identity

If either or both of the above criteria are not met and you are unable to use the self-service tool, you can still find your username or reset your password by contacting the IT Service Desk at: helpdesk@newpaltz.edu or 845-257-3597 or Humanities 103.
