RHV Client Installation Instructions

The RHV virtual desktops have a desktop client named Remote Viewer.  The name of the installer package is Virt Viewer.  Remote Viewer is run from the VM Portal to connect to a virtual desktop.

Alternatively, there is an HTML5 client which runs in the web browser.

Software Installation Instructions:

Windows

  1. Go to the Console Client Resources page is at https://desktop.acsl.newpaltz.edu/ovirt-engine/rhv/client-resources.
  2. The Console Client Resources page has links for 32-bit and 64-bit msi installers of the Virt Viewer program. Choose the appropriate build for your computer and click on the link.  The .msi installer file will be downloaded to your computer.
  3. Run the .msi installer file.

Mac

The current recommendation for Mac OS X users is to use the HTML5 client.

Linux

  1. You will have to find and install a Virt Viewer package for your Linux distribution (Fedoar, Mint, Ubuntu, etc.).
  2. There is also a USB redirection package named usbredir.
