Adding a Printer - Linux

If this is your first time printing wirelessly from your laptop or your first time printing to a particular printer, you will need to install the printer on your computer and then after installing the printer you can print to it as often as you want.

  1. Find the printer you would like to use from one of the two drop-down menus below. Highlight and copy the ‘Printer Link’ for the desired printer (ex. http://print.newpaltz.edu:631/printers/SAB210-CLJ-5550)

  2. In system settings, double-click on 'Printers;' then click 'Add'.


     
  3. Paste the printer address in 'Enter Device URI;' then click 'Forward'.


     
  4. Search for the 'Make' and 'Model' of the printer you noted before (all printers are HP unless otherwise noted) and then select the 'Driver;' finally, click 'Forward'.


     
  5. Select any applicable options; then click 'Forward'.


     
  6. When the correct printer and driver has been selected, click 'Apply'.


     
  7. You are now ready to print!
