Is there assisted listening in the classroom?
There isn't a system permanently installed, however you can request a portable assisted listening device here.

Is there a microphone in the classroom?

Can I connect a laptop to the display system?
Yes, there are a few options for connecting your laptop.
- VGA - There is a VGA cable on the instructor station
- HDMI - There is an HDMI port on the instructor station
- The user is responsible for bringing their own HDMI cable
- Wireless - Some rooms have Apple TV (Mac) and/or Crestron Air Media (Windows/Android)
- View these articles to see which rooms have these devices
- Macbook / iPad / Tablets - Most of these devices require an adapter to connect to VGA or HDMI
- The user is responsible for providing their own adapter
- Many adapters can be purchased at the SUNY New Paltz Bookstore or at major electronics retailers

Is there a DVD player in the classroom?
There is not a standalone player, but you can play DVDs in the computer.

Is there a BluRay player in the classroom?
Standard smart classrooms do not have BluRay capabilities, however you can request to borrow one here.
The following lecture halls do have a BluRay player installed in the instructor station

What slide size should I use for my PowerPoint presentation?
Widescreen aspect ratio is used in smart classrooms.
- Open PowerPoint
- Select Design tab
- Select Slide Size
- Choose Widescreen (16:9)

Can I view my PowerPoint notes on the instructor station computer?
No, the instructor station computer has a single output that splits to the monitor and projector. A computer needs two displays to view notes.
- To see notes in a smart classroom
- Connect a laptop via VGA or HDMI
- Open Powerpoint
- Select the Slide Show tab
- Click the Use Presenter View checkbox
