How to Find Where Software is Located in Open Computer Labs

SUNY New Paltz uses a free mobile app - LabFind - to search for specific campus software, hardware, scheduled hours, computer availability and directions to public computer labs.  Follow the instructions below to download and use LabFind for both iPhone and Android phones.

1.  From your cell phone's app store download LabFind.

2. Type in your NPCUID@newpaltz.edu address, for example: your_user-id@newpaltz.edu.
   *** Do not use your hawkmail email address.

3. To verify your account, open the LabFind confirmation email sent to you.  It may be in your junk folder.  Select "Confirm your account."

4A. There are two ways to find lab software.  The first is to simply type the software name in the search box.

4B. The second way is to click on the "Apps" icon on the bottom of the home screen to bring up the list of software categories.

4C. Click on the desired category to see the list of all lab software, for example- clicking on Mathematics, will bring up the following list:

5A. With either method clicking on the name of the app will bring up the number of computers and public labs with that app.

5B. Then click on "Find App" to bring up the list of lab locations.

6A. Click on the lab name to get details about the lab and how to navigate to it.

6B.  For example, navigation to the VH 115 lab from LC:

6C.  Details about the VH 115 lab include computer accessories/capabilities installed, for example: printers, a scanner, a copier and collaborative work space.

7A. If looking for specific hardware, in other words, Macs versus PCs, from the LabFind homepage click on the computers icon, then "By Hardware" and "Advanced Search.".

7B.  Select the desired computer operating system and desktop or laptop.
