GENERAL LOGIN AND COMPUTER ACCOUNT INFORMATION
All SUNY New Paltz systems, unless otherwise noted, rely on the same authentication system. This means you will use the same username and password to access your email, office computers, lab computers, Brightspace, and more.
A password activation email is sent to the personal address we have on file for you when your computer account is initially set up. It will contain your username and a link that lets you set your password. When you first login you will be prompted to setup the MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) service by Microsoft. You will need a smartphone or a cell phone that can receive texts. If you don’t have such a phone, please contact our Service Desk (845-257-HELP or servicedesk@newpaltz.edu). When logging into all systems (unless otherwise noted) you will use your full New Paltz email address (with @newpaltz.edu) to login
Most systems listed here can be accessed via the “Resources” link at the top right of the New Paltz home page www.newpaltz. edu. This is only a brief overview of the major systems needed by most employees of the College.
Note: Your department (chair/secretary) must request an account on your behalf.
OFFICE COMPUTERS
Unlike other campus systems you need only the first part of your email address to login. If for example you use “someusername@newpaltz.edu” to login to other systems, you will just use “someusername” here.
When using a shared computer, it is recommended to restart the computer when you are finished.
We recommend using Microsoft’s OneDrive for easy access to your files (from your office, from home, from computer labs, mobile devices, etc.). Search OneDrive on our support site for more information.
