2024-09-30: Email with subject "High Priority Request"

Body

Below is a screenshot of a fraudulent email (with the sender's address removed and the destination link partially obscured) that was received by a number of faculty, staff, and students.  The message uses several common techniques:

  • A false sense of urgency (terms like "High-Priority Request" and "your account service may be suspended")
  • A link to a Google Forms page (forms.gle).

Were you to go to the Google form, it would have asked for your name, email, password, and other sensitive information.  You should never give out passwords in response to an online form site (like Google Forms or Microsoft Forms) or in response to a survey such as one on Survey Monkey or Qualtrics.
