Microsoft 365 provides 100GB (GigaBytes) of storage for each email account. This is a massive amount of storage for email which few will run out of, but it isn't limitless. Below is how you can see your current storage usage on your email account if you are one of the few who hit this limit. As of Spring 2024 - there are only about 20 people even at the halfway mark, but it won't last forever and we cannot increase the storage beyond that account under any circumstances as it is a hard limit on Microsoft's systems.
The instructions below are for the web version of Microsoft 365. If you use the desktop version that is part of Microsoft Office, you can still log into the web version to get this information via the instructions below.
- Click the gear icon at the top right then click View all Outlook settings at the bottom.
- On the far left column - choose General
- On the middle column - choose Storage
- You'll see a breakdown by folder of what your account has. You can click on Empty next to a folder and choose (for example) to empty it completely, or to get rid of all mail in that folder 12 months or older.
