Using Webex As A Meeting Invitee


A guide on how to use Webex if you are a meeting invitee from a SUNY New Paltz host.


If you have received a Webex invitation, follow the steps below to join the meeting.

You will need a webcam, microphone, and speakers/headphones.

*You do not need a Webex account if you are the meeting invitee, only the host needs an account.

Overview Of Joining A WebEx Meeting

Receiving The Invitation

  • You will receive an invitation via email.
  • The email will list the details of the meeting i.e. date, time, etc.
  • When it is time to join the meeting, click the link provided in the email.


Joining The Meeting

  • Once you have clicked the link, the Webex software will automatically download if not previously installed.
  • Click "Run" when prompted.
  • The Webex software will open and you will enter the Meeting


Connecting Audio & Video

  • Once you have entered the Meeting, you must connect your audio and video to be heard and seen. A pop up box will appear once the meeting has loaded and show you a preview of your camera and audio options.
  • Click the green "Join Meeting" button to finish entering the meeting
  • Other meeting participants will now be able to see and hear you.
