Blackboard Ticket: Support and Services

Blackboard is the official Learning Management System (LMS) at SUNY New Paltz.  A Blackboard course site is generated every semester for every course and course sites are widely used as a part of seated and hybrid courses and as the sole platform for a majority of our online course offerings.

  • Provides space for non-class specific organizations with Blackboard Communities
  • Integrated with Turnitin, a third-party anti-plagiarism tool

Authorized Users:

  • Faculty
  • Students
  • Staff (some staff members may need an account made by request)
  • Administrators (some administrators may need an account made by request)

Request Process:

  • Blackboard accounts are automatically created for:
    • All faculty listed as instructor of record for a course
    • All students who are enrolled in a course
  • With the permission of the department head, staff members or administrators who do not have Blackboard access can click here to request Blackboard accounts.
  • Course auditors must request access to Blackboard.  Click here to download and print the auditor form and bring the signed form to either The Teaching and Learning Center, College Hall 113 or the Academic Computing Office, van den Berg Hall Annex, Room 155 to request access to your course on Blackboard.

User Responsibility:

  • All users are responsible for logging in to Blackboard with their own New Paltz User ID.
  • Whenever Blackboard is used in a public lab, users must remember to logout and restart their computer to prevent others from accessing their Blackboard account.
  • The email tool in Blackboard should be used solely for academic purposes.

  • Blackboard is available free of charge to faculty, staff, and students.
