Website Update Requests

Overview

The College’s main website, http://www.newpaltz.edu is managed by the Office of Communication and Marketing (OCM). OCM is charged with maintaining series of branded templates for the various schools and departments, maintaining and training users in the use of a content management system, and helping departments create new and updated websites within the newpaltz.edu domain.


Features and Benefits:

  • www.newpaltz.edu is a public website available worldwide
  • All departments and programs have dedicated pages, making the site the single largest source of information about the school
  • OCM actively manages a content management system that allows department/program heads to update their website with virtually no technical expertise required

  • Staff
  • Graduate/Teaching Assistants

Request Process:

  • Website updates can be made by two methods:
    1. (Recommended) Self-service through the use of the college’s content management system, TerminalFour
    2. Manual updates made by OCM staff. This method is recommended when creating graphics, custom code, or making extensive structural changes to a website.

User Responsibility:

  • All department chairs and directors are responsible for the content on their websites. While OCM manages the templates and overall site structure, departments are responsible for keeping their websites up to date.

Requirements and Prerequisites:

  • Web version: Supported Browsers List
  • Training via OCM either online or in person, with a satisfactory score on the aptitude test.

Hours of Availability:

  • This service is available 24/7 via an on-campus wired connection or through a VNP connection.

Response Time:

  • Most web service request tickets will be responded to within one business day of submission. During times of high ticket volume, you can expect up to three business days before a response to your request. 

Completion Time:

  • Ticket completion will vary widely depending on the content of the ticket. Many tickets can be completed within one business day, but more complicated requests may require weeks or even months to complete, depending on complexity and level of client involvement.

  • There is no fee for this service.
