Introduction
Important: this is an additional tool that students must pay to license for one year.
Respondus Monitor is an optional, paid tool that can be used with the Respondus LockDown Browser. In addition to the LockDown Browser restricting students to the Brightspace test area, Respondus Monitor will record the physical testing environment while the exam is being taken and will flag any potentially questionable behavior during the exam. Faculty can then review the flagged video segments and decide whether they think an integrity violation has occurred.
Utilizing Respondus Monitor
Information for Faculty
- Faculty members who wish to use Respondus Monitor in a course must note the following information on the schedule of classes and on the course syllabus:
- Students will be required to pay the $15 license fee.
- Students must have a working webcam available to them for tests.
- To ensure student success with Respondus Lockdown Browser and Respondus Monitor, a practice test should be given early in the semester so students can resolve any potential technical difficulties.
Information for Students
- If your instructor requires Respondus Monitor for a Brightspace quiz, you will be prompted to purchase a license upon accessing the quiz.
- Licenses cost $15 dollars and are valid for one calendar year (a credit card is needed for the purchase).
- Your Monitor license can be used for any number of courses and quizzes while active.
- You should plan to take the Monitor-enabled quiz in a private location to avoid being flagged for background noise or people passing into the camera's view.
