Getting on eduroam - Apple iPhones and iPads (iOS/iPadOS)

eduroam (short for "education roaming") is a secure global roaming Wi-Fi access service for the education and research communities. For more information about eduroam and where service is available see our introduction to eduroam.

Only ONE campus Wi-Fi network should be setup on your device at a time. If you setup a device for eduroam make sure to make your device forget the NP Hawks WPA, NP Hawks Devices, and NP Hawks Guest networks to avoid potential connection problems. See our resources on how to "forget" a Wi-Fi network on a device.

To begin open the "Settings" application found on your home screen or in your App Library.

On the Settings screen tap Wi-Fi.

On the Wi-Fi screen tap the eduroam wireless network in the list of available wireless networks.

For your username you will need to use your SUNY New Paltz Username followed by @newpaltz.edu. As an example if your SUNY New Paltz Username is myusername then you should enter it as myusername@newpaltz.edu. Enter your password and tap Join to continue.

You will now be asked to trust the security certificate for radius.newpaltz.edu for use with this wireless network.

Optionally you may view the details for the security certificate to verify you are connecting to the correct Wi-Fi network. Tap More Details and scroll down to the bottom of what appears. There should be section marked Fingerprints. As of May 22, 2024 the SHA-256 fingerprint is DD 00 2F 26 7D 5A AE 83 09 B5 A7 B6 30 F6 07 FB F2 4D DO F2 FE 1A 4C 76 59 87 0A 4B 2C 2B EC 36. Tap Trust when you are ready to continue.

You should now be connected to the eduroam wireless network as shown below.

The most common cause for problems setting up your device is a mistyped username or password.
