Login Troubleshooting

This is a page meant to list some login issues that you may run into.  As we run into issues that pop-up now and again, we will try to add them here.

"You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect password" error

The most common reason for this error, is that someone is typing the wrong email address.  This could be if you have a typo in the username, if you've left out the @newpaltz.edu part, or if there's a typo (for example newplatz.edu).

Here's an example of this error.  If this happens, please make sure you are using your full @newpaltz.edu email address.

"Sorry, but we're having trouble signing you in" error

There could be multiple errors that show this.  You will need to see the error.  If it says "Your administrator has configured the application [app name and id] to block users unless they are specifically granted ('assigned') access to the application." - then this is an application that is restricted to only certain groups of users.

It could be something restricted to active faculty/staff/students, and an alumni or retired faculty/staff trying to login may get this error.  It could be something only accessible to faculty and staff, and a student trying to get in would get this error.

If you believe you should have access to this application, please contact the Service Desk and let them know what application you are trying to access.
