Since we have deprecated the use of macros in our Microsoft Office environment users of Zotero may get pop up messages when starting an office application that says "This documnet contains macros and is disabled, would you like to open the document in read only."
The reason for this is that Zotero installs a template file for Word that contains macros that is created when Zotero is installed
To resolve the issue navigate to
C:\Users\<Your Username Here>\Appdata\ROaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP
for me that would be c:\users\kenneym\appdata\roaming\microsoft\word\startup
and delete the zotero.dotm file.
Afterwards you can re-launch word without the startup error, however this will not enable the macros that zotero uses for notations.
