Setting the Language on a PDF Document

Overview

Setting the language of a PDF document is very important for web accessibility compliance.  If the language is not set, assistive devices, such as screenreaders, may not be able to read the document.   

Resolution

To set the language of a PDF document follow these steps:

1. Begin in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.
2. Open the file you want to update.
3. Select the File tab.
4. Select Properties.
5. Select Advanced.
6. On the Advanced tab, look for the Reading Options section and select the appropriate language from the dropdown menu.
