How do I select an Admin Page (form)?

  • Once you are signed into Banner 9, you can select an Admin Page (or form as it is known in Banner 8) using 4 different methods

  • Enter the admin page name in the box under the word Welcome

  • Click on the Application Icon which looks like a rubik's cube and the Banner menu will appear, select admin page

  • Click on the Search Icon which looks like a magnifying glass and it will come up with a box to enter an admin page name

  • Once an admin page has been selected, you can click on the Recently Opened Icon which looks like an open manila folder and pick from pages you have previously visited

How do I input a student?

When you call up an admin page (form) that displays student information, a key block will appear with boxes for the keys it requires: ID, Term, etc. Enter the information and click “Go” on the right side of the page. This is equivalent to “Scroll Down” in Banner 8.

Be careful when entering an ID. If you typo the ID or use SSN, it will think you want to create a new student and take you to GOAMTCH. Always check to make sure the name comes up next to the box to make sure you have the correct ID. Pay attention to the page name at the top.

To search for a student, you can use one of the following methods:

  • Leave the ID box blank and hit Tab. This will create a box to enter last name, first name

  • Click on “…” and you can do a person search similar to that in Banner 8

How do I change to a new student?

Click on the “Start Over” green button on the top right of the page (equivalent to rollback in Banner 8). If you have edited something on the page, click on “SAVE” at bottom right of page.

Where do I find control key function mappings?

See chart at the end of this document.

How do I get to Banner 9 Help?

Click on the “?” icon on the left side of the page. It will take you to the documentation for the admin page that you are on. You can also search this extensive document for anything else Banner 9 related using the search box.

Can I run Banner 8 and Banner 9 at the same time?

Yes. As you begin using Banner 9, you can check on Banner 8 to see the changes. Both Banner 9 and Banner 8 use the same database underneath, so if you make changes on Banner 9, they will be reflected on Banner 8 and vice versa. Also, there are some SICAS forms that are not yet available in Banner 9. You will have to use Banner 8 to access them. See list at end of document.

What new features are in Banner 9?

Banner 9 has a very robust filter that makes it easy to narrow down the items you want to see. It also allows you to sort or move columns similar to Excel spreadsheets. It will also give you a 5 minute heads up that your session will expire and gives you the ability to extend it.

Why is Banner 9 slower than Banner 8?

Banner 9 has a different technology stack than Banner 8. Banner 9 is a web application built on layers allowing for more flexibility. Banner 8 was built in Oracle Forms which is installed on your PC making the run time faster

Why does my form come up blank and is totally white?

If you select an admin page and the screen turns white, you have selected a SICAS admin page that has not been released yet. You will need to use that form in Banner 8. See table at the end of this document for list of unreleased forms and the projected date of release. You do not need to submit a ticket for this, it will be resolved when SICAS releases the rest of their forms.

Why does my form come up with ID field and Go and everything below is blank?

The admin pages key block in Banner 9 comes up by itself. Once you enter the key information in the key boxes, the rest of the page will show up. In Banner 8 the key block shows up along with the rest of the form.

How do I scroll down to get to my form?

Click on the “Go” green button at the top right of the page.

How do I know I am in PROD vs. PPRD?

Once you are in a page, you will see either PROD or PPRD on the Page Header line at the top of the page. Also, PPRD is currently supporting the theme we created for PPRD which is green. PROD has the Ellucian baseline blue look to it.

How do I clear my cache?

On the new screen, click the upper left corner icon that is labeled “Setting” and then select “Privacy and security”. This will open a privacy setting session. Select “clear browsing data”.
