Overview

The Office of Communication and Marketing provides social media consultation, promotion, and support for strategic initiatives on campus. The main New Paltz social media accounts exist to promote the overall strategic goals and share authentic content from the larger community of students, faculty/staff, and alumni.  Social media requests are reviewed and support will be provided based on a number of factors including:

  • Alignment with Strategic Plan initiatives
  • Target audience
  • Type of content or media

Features and Benefits:

  • Social media accounts can be a great method to quickly share important messages and connect with your community. 
  • The social media manager helps to brand all official New Paltz social media accounts on campus and add them to the online social media directory.
  • Social Media Hub: Users from our entire community may publicly share on Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #NPsocial.  These post are then approved and highlighted on this public website. (www.newpaltz.edu/npsocial)

Request Process:

  1. Social media promotion requests must be submitted at a minimum of 10 business days before a campaign will begin. This is critical to allow for time to prepare posts, scheduling on appropriate accounts, and managing logistics.
  2. Creating social media accounts should not be taken lightly and a scheduled consultation with the social media manager is helpful to properly assess your needs before creating accounts.

User Responsibility:

  • Requestor or their designee will need to be in frequent contact with the social media manager for supplying specific details, key messages, media, and any potential influences that may reshare their content on social media.

Hours of Availability:

  • Variable.

Customer costs:

  • Generally, no costs are incurred by requesting a consultation and support.
  • Users may request paid campaigns on social media.  This requires the account number of your department, the amount that will be spent, and a transfer of funds will be addressed to your account following the campaign.
