Announcements are a key way to remain present in your blended course.  Posting regular announcements allows students to know that you are continuously checking in with the course, which, in turn, encourages their continued participation.  

While some instructors post announcements more frequently than others, announcements should be posted at least once a week.

Announcements might be....

• Reminders about upcoming due dates or assignments

• Positive reinforcement for good work

• Encouragement to improve work that is lacking in some way

• A means to summarize or reinforce recent content

• A way to stay current - for example, posting a timely current event article

• A personal touch - for example, wishing the class a relaxing weekend, holiday, or break

• A reminder that you are meeting synchronously that week (Combined Online)
