Students, faculty, and staff at SUNY New Paltz, as well as authorized guests, are welcome to connect their personal Wi-Fi capable devices to our Wi-Fi networks for Internet access.
Students, Faculty, and Staff - Personal Devices
Laptops, Tablets, Smartphones, and Wi-Fi capable Desktops
Laptops, desktops, tablets, and smartphones should be connected to the eduroam wireless (Wi-Fi) network. Setup guides for eduroam are available for different device types.
NOTE: Only ONE campus Wi-Fi network should be setup on your device at a time. If you setup a device for eduroam, make sure your device forgets the NP Hawks WPA and NP Hawks Guest network to avoid potential connection problems.
Game Consoles, TVs, Smart Home Devices (IoT)
Many devices typically found in the home do not fully support the security requirements of the eduroam Wi-Fi network. These devices should connect to the NP Hawks Devices network instead. Setup guides for the NP Hawks Devices network are available.
Wired Residential Access
Every residence hall bedroom has at least one wired network port available for devices you'd like to connect with an Ethernet cable. See our guide on Residential Wired (sometimes called "ResNet").
Visitors and Guests
Visitors to our campus can utilize the NP Hawks Guest Wi-Fi network for Internet access. See our guide on using the NP Hawks Guest Wi-Fi network.
Visitors from institutions that participate in eduroam may also be able to use the on-campus eduroam network for Internet access without any additional setup. Please contact your home institution's IT department for help setting up eduroam on your device.
