The Brightspace Email Tool
Brightspace Has email functionality with an integrated course roster.
The email tool is particularly versatile because it allows instructors to contact one or more students, but it also allows students to reach out to the instructor or each other. For faculty, the option for email is available in a few different locations:
- Option 1: On the main menu in the Course Communication section (choose full class, selected recipients, or single recipient)
- Option 2: When posting Announcements (full class)
- Option 3: In the Full Grade Center (individual to a selected student)
Email also gives you the ability to reach out to a number of people at one time for mass communication or to privately communicate with one individual - it is important to understand which options will reach the desired amount of recipients as noted above.
Note:
- When an email is sent from Brightspace, it is received within the Brightspace email client and copied to a campus email (Outlook notification) to the recipient
- Faculty sending a message through Brightspace will receive a confirmation copy of their message in their campus email (Outlook) accounts
- Recipients of Brightspace emails can only reply using the Brightspace email client.
- A warning banner is attached to each outgoing email sent from Brigthspace to campus email (Outlook notification) stating that that this message is a "no reply email account"
- All other replies through any other email client other than Brightspace will fail to reach the sender and bounce back with a message to the recipient; reminding them to only use the Brightspace Email client to reply back.
- Emails sent and received in Brightspace are retained in the Brightspace email client
- When an announcement is posted in Brightspace a copy of the message is sent to campus email (Outlook notification) to the recipient.
